The Stay at Home Server - A children’s book teaching us all about home servers

How do you make a server an emotional purchase? How do you teach people about a product that’s not intuitive or part of the culture? Well, for one you make it a social issue and we did so by calling it The Stay at Home Server. The centerpiece to this integrated campaign and “controversy”  was a children’s book called, “Mommy why is there a server in the house?” This book written in the style of a children’s book used to introduce abnormal adult themes turned out to be a huge hit. We ended up selling copies of it on Amazon. After all these years it’s still available. And lots of great reviews.  It actually stole the show at CES where Business Week wrote, “The biggest thing this year at the Consumer Electronics Show is a little yellow book. “
