Space Needle
The Space Needle is a spaceship—a vessel for exploration, observation and wonder.
Built in 1962, The Space Needle was built to be an astonishing symbol of the nearing 21st Century. Yet, it had become stale uninspiring and an activity reserved for tourists. It needed a spiritual and experiential revival—a new, relevant reason for people to visit. A new vision was essential in making the next 50 years as inspiring as the first.
It started by creating a powerful narrative. This story guided a new customer journey that would modernize the property and refresh original futuristic vision. We re-imagined all aspects of the customer experience and considered every touch point. Architecture, interactive tech, digital platforms were all unified and tied together by the vision.
The Skypad™ interactive guestbook encourages visitors to leave their mark and visualize the distance and significance of the journey they have taken to get there—via an 8-foot-tall interactive 3D globe. Visitors can also explore 52 years of memories through an interactive photographic installation that allows guests to view and filter memorabilia, early tower design and construction, sunsets, etc. Guests can contribute their own moments by uploading photos through the Space Needle’s website.
Lots of AR moments were part of the experience.
