The Gates Notes
When a certain founder of Microsoft left his role there most people associated him with his foundation and the astonishing efforts he and his wife were making and investing in to make the world better. However, Mr. Gates wanted to have his own voice and a place to share his opinions, ideas and spark intellectual dialogs with the world at large. Up until 2009, this was simply brought forth through the media and not his own agenda.
I was lucky to be part of the team that launched The Gates Notes. Our responsibility was to help organize his personal projects and philanthropic missions and future focused theories. We called it a blogumentary and it was filled with education, inspiration, shared brilliance, and captured moments in the life of one of the most influential thinkers and doers of our time.
It was a great collaboration with a smart, talented team on both sides. I loved finding creative ways to house and collect his thoughts in provocative ways. We helped establish the Curious Classroom for example where Mr. Gates would answer questions submitted by classrooms around the world. We got to know what was on his bookshelf. No one learned more than I did about life, the world and what it is like to be in the presence of someone whose mind does laps around my own chaotic rapid-fire thoughts.
